This is the last article of a four-part series on Psalm 67, adapted from a teaching outline I wrote for a women’s Bible study taught in Spring 2026.
Over the last few weeks, we have talked about Psalm 67 and how it shows us what happens what happens when God’s people share His blessing with the nations. In Part 1 of this series, we looked at Psalm 67:1-2 and briefly discussed how God blessed His people so that all nations may know him. In Part 2, we saw that this knowledge leads to gladness in God’s just rule over the nations. In Part 3, we saw that the goal of the blessing is that all nations may fear God.
Today, I want to apply this passage. How can we see Psalm 67 play out in our own lives as part of God’s people and recipients of His blessing? How can we be involved in His mission?
Study God’s Mission
If you’re not convinced that the Great Commission is for all believers, then take some time to study God’s mission. As you read your Bible, write down the evidence you find of God’s love for the nations and his orchestrating events so that more people will come to know and worship Him. It is all over the Bible, in the Old and New Testaments. Study Acts in particular, to see how the disciples put into practice the commission they were given by Jesus at the end of the gospels and in Acts 1:8.
Read missionary biographies. Read about people from history who have gone to great lengths and sacrificed everything for the sake of the Great Commission. Don’t divorce yourself from them. There was nothing particularly special about them, just a willingness to obey. We have the same Holy Spirit they did, so we all have the capacity to participate in the mission like they did.
Pray
Pray for God to open your eyes to the work He’s doing around the world. Not only that, but pray that God’s purpose will captivate your life so that you intensely desire what Psalm 67 speaks of: that God will be praised by people of all nations.
Pray for the missionaries and church planters who are sharing the gospel around the world, with people who have often never even heard the name of Jesus. You can start with the missionaries and church planters sent out of your own church. Collect prayer cards and put them in a place where you will remember to look at and pray for them regularly.
Pray for the people in your life who are not believers. Pray that their eyes will be opened to the hope and truth of the gospel. Pray for opportunities to present that hope and truth to them yourself.
Pray bold prayers. Pray dangerous prayers. Ask God how He might use you in His mission. Be ready for the answer!
Obey
What are the steps you can take to become obedient to the Great Commission, if you’re not already? A simple step is to begin looking for, and actually taking, opportunities to share the gospel with those people you prayed for above.
Determine how you can support missionaries. You can, and should, pray for them, but can you also give financially or serve on a missionary care team?
Go on a short-term mission trip, if you are able. If you’re prohibited by health, then pray for mission teams going from your church. Consider supporting these trips financially or if finances are prohibitive, consider fund raising in order to go on one yourself.
Finally, ask God if he might choose to send you somewhere long-term. This is the hardest ask of all. But I believe if we are closely following the Lord and seeking to be obedient to him, then that necessitates always holding your own plans with open hands. Ask God if he might be choosing you to be a conduit of His gospel to the nations.
